Ok, so there’s not exactly a lack of 190-series Mercedes in the world — with 1.8 million made in an 11-year production life.

What are quite a rarity though, are the evolution models, with only 502 made as a homologation for touring car racing.

Well, now that number has risen to 503, as Mercedes-Benz Classic has built a new one!

Based on a standard car, this new 190E Evo II has been built to Group A racing regulations with the purpose of being paraded for the German-manufacturer’s heritage trackdays — with its first appearance being made next week at Zolder in Belgium.

Introduced to DTM in 1990, the original Evo II gave Mercedes its first touring car championship win in 1992.
