Bonhams Revival sale rakes in more than £10 million — here are our favourites
Aside from rich, old people cosplaying and historic race cars, there’s one thing guaranteed at the Goodwood Revival — very expensive auctions.
This year’s proved to be no exception, with Bonhams’ auction at the event bringing in more than £10m.
Some seriously cool motors went under the hammer and we’ve picked our favourites.
1963 Ford Galaxie 500
This old race car fetched a whopping £471,900 — setting a new world record for the model. Dubbed the pinnacle of the sale, this Galaxie was raced in the British Saloon Car Championship (now called BTCC) by former champion Jack Sears.
1973 Ferrari 365 GTB/4
If you wanted to get your hands on this Ferrari ‘Daytona’, you’d have been set back a cool £606,300. Worth it for that Rosso corsa/cream combination alone in our eyes…
1996 Mercedes-Benz 190E 2.3-16
Another Jack Sears-owned car, this Cosworth-tuned saloon went for ‘just’ £25,300, making it a bargain by Goodwood standards. We’d argue it’s the best deal of the lot.
2011 Porsche 911 GT3 RS 4.0
It’s not just classics that bring in big bucks at the Revival — current rarities do, too. And that’s certainly the case with one (not pictured) 911 GT3 RS 4.0, which went for £287,100. We wonder how much that will increase to in the future…
