Discovery Sport Pulls Like A Train… By Actually Pulling A Train
“It pulls like a train” is a well-known way of describing a powerful car. However, Land Rover decided to go one better and actually pull a train.
Nobody likes a show-off, but we can’t help but admire this plucky Discovery Sport as it pulls three train carriages out of a Swiss train station. That’s a total of 108 tonnes!
The most impressive thing about it all is that the Land Rover did the whole thing perched on train tracks rather than driving alongside – slowly, but surely…
A road-to-rail conversion specialist – yes, that is a real job, apparently – was employed to fit castors to the bottom of the SUV to ensure the Discovery didn’t derail, but there were no other modifications.
After an 8mph cruise through the forest, the Land Rover made it to a vertigo-inducing bridge over the River Rhine. The test driver was no doubt praying the guy with the questionable job title knew what he was doing.
Check out the full stunt below – and don’t act like you’re not impressed.
