Drivers Warned Of Grapes On Road

They say wine and driving don’t mix…
But for residents in one French commune, the warning is all too literal.
A number of triangular signs warning of a skid risk have popped up on roads throughout Duras, in the Lot-et-Garonne department of south-western France.
Nothing untoward there…
But accompanying the signs is the warning ‘JUS DE RAISIN’.
Yep, you read that right. Drivers really are being warned to look out for grape juice on the road.
But why?
According to one French newspaper, the reason is simple. The temporary signs have been erected during the grape harvest, as spillage from lorries carrying the fruit can cause hazardous road conditions.
So there you have it folks – grapes are dangerous!
Pssst!
