‘If at first you don’t succeed, try again.’

Perhaps not the best advice for a drunk driver speeding along a dual carriageway.

Unfortunately for Martin Cantrill, he did try again, and didn’t succeed. So he tried again…

First attempt: Following a violent undertake of the filming vehicle, he collides not once, but twice with the central reservation.

Second attempt: The 43-year-old, who was three-and-a-half times over the drink drive limit appeared not content with his driving on the Tarmac, so took a short off-road detour.

Final attempt: Much to the shock of the pursuing motorists, Cantrill’s car then rejoins the dual carriage way and drove in a surprisingly straight line along the A14 in Kettering before eventually admitting defeat, cutting into the path of an HGV in the process.

Cantrill was found with a smashed pint glass at his feet, and a bottle of wine in the passenger seat – classy.

The self-confessed alcoholic was sentenced at Northampton Crown Court to 10 month, suspended by 12 months and was disqualified from driving for three years.
