Hit-And-Run Driver Thought He’d Got Away With It, Reckoned Without Irate Cabbie

Hit-And-Run Driver Thought He’d Got Away With It, Reckoned Without Irate Cabbie

Would you go after a hit-and-run driver? We’re not sure we would – but a London cabbie did just that after a cyclist came a cropper because of a seriously bad motorist.

Whereas most onlookers would leave the chase to the police, Birol Koca decided to take matters into his own hands and followed the offender’s Vauxhall Astra after seeing the driver knock the hapless rider off their two-wheeled steed.

Winding his way through traffic while going after the silver car, he provided an expletive-filled commentary to his dashcam.

As the fleeing driver turned on to the main road, Koca sounded his horn at other motorists before explaining to a motorcyclist what had happened.

The have-a-go-hero eventually managed to box the Astra in against a traffic island, where he then confronted the man.

The incident took place on June 13 in the Vauxhall area, and police later confirmed that they were called to the scene following the collision.

A GoFundMe page set up by the cycling community to thank the cabbie with ‘a bit of lunch and a coffee’ has so far raised £310 – more than three times its target. Nice one! We also wish the cyclist well.
