Martin Brundle’s F1 Scalextric Track Is Very Cool
A massive Scalextric track designed by former F1 driver Martin Brundle is to be auctioned off for charity – and who wouldn’t love to own it?
Comprising 177 pieces and an amazing 45 metres long, it’s been donated by Hornby Hobbies and will be going under the hammer on August 29th at the Carfest South Classic Car Auction, which is being held at Laverstoke Park Farm – owned by ex-F1 champ Jody Scheckter – in Overton, Hampshire.
Martin, who now commentates for Sky Sports, said he was challenged to design his dream circuit using sections from this year’s F1 races.
I immediately wanted a figure of eight like our beloved Suzuka, and could only dream of driving a series of corners such as scaling the mountain up to turn one in Austin before falling through the ‘Senna S’ of Brazil and towards Silverstone’s fearsome Copse corner. And that’s just a small section.
All the proceeds are going to Children In Need.
A fantastic track and a worthy cause. Should raise a nice tidy sum!
