New Porsche Cayenne Turbo takes its place at top of refreshed model range

This is the new Porsche Cayenne Turbo – and if there’s one thing we know for sure, it’s that it’s going to be pretty mega.

Why’s that, you ask? Well, its 542bhp twin-turbocharged 4.0-litre V8 engine allows the big Porker to accelerate from 0-60mph in as little as 3.7 seconds when equipped with the optional Sports Chrono Package. Top speed, meanwhile, sits at a lofty 178mph.

In a vehicle that’s practically the size of a small house, we’re surprised it hasn’t punched a hole in the space-time continuum.

There’s also a suite of impressive tech on board to help keep the new range-topping Cayenne planted firmly on the road, including three-chamber air suspension, mixed tyres and some trick active aerodynamics. The rear spoiler even pops up to improve downforce over the rear axle.

In the cabin, the tech-fest continues, with a Bose surround sound system, wi-fi hotspot and Porsche’s Advanced Cockpit all available.

The cost of all this performance and technology? In Germany, the Cayenne has been priced at €138,850 (circa £125,000) – so it’s not exactly cheap. With a claimed fuel consumption of 23.9mpg, you’ll likely find you begin spending a fair amount of time (and money) at the petrol pump, too.

Still, we’d quite like to get our hands on one when it’s launched later this year. Pretty please, Porsche…?
