Drag Racer Explodes, Driver Walks Away Amazingly Unscathed
Drag racing has seen some pretty serious accidents in the past, but this recent one from the Spring Nationals in Houston has been labelled ‘the biggest explosion in NHRA Top Fuel drag racing in over a decade’.
Terry McMillen’s ‘Xtermigator’ drag racer exploded just a few seconds into his race, and when you watch the footage you’ll be amazed to see that he walked away from it unharmed.
The spectacular slo-mo video posted by the National Hot Rod Association showed how the engine detached from its tethers in a ball of flames:
Fortunately, McMillan was unharmed, and he posted his reaction on Facebook:
He also kept us up to date with the reconstruction progress, and within five days, Xtermigator’s frame was straightened up and well on the way to being ready for the next event in Atlanta.
