Police Chief Let Off By Officer After Being Caught Doing 107mph

No one likes a hypocrite.

If there’s one thing that always gets people properly wound up, it’s the idea that there can be one rule for some and a different rule for others.

A fine example of this sort of thinking has emerged from Arkansas in the US, when Edward Randle, chief of the Brinkley Police Department, was caught travelling at 107mph in his Ford F-150 pick-up. What’s more, a Brinkley officer even had to call on a state trooper to help him stop the truck.

Randle, who had been on his way to a football game at a high school, eventually pulled over, but when the trooper realised who was at the wheel he burst out laughing, joking about the whole incident, and when the officer caught up with them he let Randle off without a ticket – after similarly finding the whole thing quite amusing.

In a later interview with CBS affiliate THV11, Randle claimed that the public shouldn’t be upset about him not getting a speeding ticket because he’s ‘worked in law enforcement for nearly three decades, and that he knows better than to endanger the lives of other drivers, or his own, by driving recklessly.’

So that’s all right then.
