Used Porsche 911 R Goes On Sale With Outrageous Price Tag
Some cars are rare, and then there’s the Porsche 911 R.
Just 991 of these stripped-out, back-to-basics supercars have been built, and though it only came out last year, there’s one up for sale in Australia.
Priced at AUS$1,199,000 (about £741,000) by carsales.com.au, the car is around seven times more expensive than it was when it rolled off the production line in Stuttgart.
We’re well aware that it’s the most desirable 991-series 911 on the market, but even so, that price seems exorbitant.
That said, the car has only covered 68km (42 miles), so it’s practically a delivery-mileage machine.
Powered by a naturally aspirated 4.0-litre flat six, the 911 R sprints from 0-60mph in just over 3.5 seconds, before topping out at 200mph.
According to Porsche, though, it’ll return a mere 21.2mpg, so the huge asking price will look a little less ridiculous compared with the running costs.
Nevertheless, it’s a great investment, because it’s a car that’s already gone up in value massively and probably won’t come back down again.
