Watch The Terrifying Moment Rally Driver Crashes His Car Into A Lake
Rally drivers know they’re having a bad day when they end up in a lake…
Estonian M-Sport rally duo Ott Tanak and co-driver Raigo Molder took an early bath on Day 2 of Rally Mexico in VERY scary style.
However, making men feel inferior the world over, the mechanics back in service managed to fix the splash and crash car in just THREE HOURS.
And we’re not talking a bit of masking tape and some string here.
No, we’re talking full rebuild – the engine had to be drained, and electronics, fuel tank, gearbox and turbo all replaced.
Incredibly the car rejoined the rally for Day 3 and finished… albeit in 22nd place.
Tanak said: “This is something that we have never seen before. The car has been gone all day, submerged at the bottom of a lake, full of water, and the team had to do a full rebuild in just three hours.”
Luckily, it was nice weather for Duck – Tanak’s mascot which stayed attached to his gearstick for the duration of the ordeal. Watch the video below to see the crash from inside the car (and keep an eye on the duck).
